Daniel-KB3MUN will be needing volunteers for a JOTA Camporee from October 20-22, 2017. Final details should be out in June. If you would like to volunteer for this event please email Daniel-KB3MUN at or give him a shout on the Land-Line at 717-377-2337.

Here's an email he sent out to the club:
I'm D. Daniel McGlothin KB3MUN, the scouter that spoke briefly to you at this evening CVARC meeting.
I would be interested in having hams from your area support the JOTA camporee we are planning for 3rd full weekend on OCT (i.e., 20 - 22 OCT - 2017). If, however, your area is doing a JOTA event more local to you, I don't want to steal the hams.
I'm going to be interested in ham operators to help scouts (youth age 11 - 18) to talk on the radio to especially other scouts, to help them build a 3 - element tape measure beam, do radio direction finding, and talk on the radio some more. I hope to have enough hams to run shifts of operators FRI evening, all day SAT.
If you know of a ham - in - a - day instructor, I'd be interesting is talking to that person -- I'm planning such a course track for interested scouts and adults. A VE session SUN morning is planned too.
If you know of other hams, ham clubs in the area surrounding Franklin County (Chambersburg), PA and Washington County (Hagerstown), MD, please let me know contact info so that I can reach out to them.
For the record, this is a Boy Scout activity being planned by Troop 413, Tuscarora District, Mason Dixon Council. Scouting rules about 2 - deep leadership, no one - on - one activity, and similar youth protection guidelines will be in force.
I expect to have the camporee guide completed before JUNE, and to have this event advertised in, and outside, of the Mason Dixon Council. Scouts from other councils will be welcome. We will probably have an upper limit of about 225 scouts.
